IT Support Staff Role

One IT Support Staff is hired for each electoral division to assist with technology in the returning office and advance voting places. The IT Support Staff prepares and manages equipment including loading software and files on laptops. They ensure equipment is delivered and assembled at voting stations and returned after the electoral event concludes. The IT Support Staff supports the trainer in conducting training for election officers and provides troubleshooting support throughout the election period, especially during advance voting days.

This role is compensated $23/hour.

Time Commitment

Once the next Provincial General Election is called*, IT Support Staff will work full-time during the election period. IT Support Staff will also need to be available for training, to open and establish the returning office, as well as for advance voting and election day support.

*Alberta has a fixed election date. The next provincial election is anticipated to occur on May 29, 2023 (writ issued May 1, 2023). Key dates include:

  • Training: March 2023
  • Opening the returning office: April 2023
  • Election Period – Full Time Work: May 1 – 29, 2023
